Hello All!!!
Here it is, another brilliant winter day, looks like -12 C (10F) The cold has come quickly so we arent used to it yet!! Brrr- even Duke wants only shorter walks. There is now a solid 2+ feet of snow on the ground. The last weeks have really flown by as they always tend to do! It was a busy time for us getting the Lodge and cottages put to bed for the winter as well as preparing for our Cuba trip. Jamie and Ann ran down to Stratford for ‘As You Like It’. We also had a visit with Sean and Isabella- they have purchased a nice home in Hamilton!! They are so happy to be home owners and we are very proud of them!!
We will remember this year as the year of the MACHINE! Our good friend Bob brought his mini excavator out this spring and went from one end of our property to the beach taking out stumps, old logs and trees, many left from the storm of 2021. He also pulled out two ‘leany’ trees, between the pump house and the launch exposing an incredible new 50’ stretch of sand. The old leaning white pine beside the launch is still there!! The old barn is officially gone!! Some amazing chunky new gravel laid on the road will make launching boats much smoother!
Spring was short but sweet. We hosted some great new guests plus enjoyed visits from old faves- thanks Dave C. Dan, Tom and Spencer plus Phil and John!! July was full of families- many thanks to the Caryers, Mays, Hewletts, Hills, Elliotts and Fitzs. August was lovely, filled with warm sunny days and visits from some of our favourite guests- Frank and Sally, Sandra and Dave, Artur and Agnes, Dawn and Bruce, Kurt and Denise, Christine and Clair, Kevin and Lisa plus the Evans gang!! We loved being piped into dinner- such a treat- thanks to a wonderful young man, Liam!!!! Summer lingered well into September with the last swim reported by the Dowhaniuk family Sept 23!! I think it was more like a dip but yay to them!!
Our wonderful friends and family enjoyed some awesome early fall warmth to help us take out the docks. It is always a good time to note any leaks in our waders. Thanks Devan for saving me! Thanks also to Rachel, Bill, Wayne and Linda for your love and support.
Looking forward to a quiet winter tucked into cottage 6- maybe break out the snowshoes. Duke loves winter walks. He is doing ok but will always be a handful for us. Makes us smile everyday.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. May 2026 be filled with peace and happiness!! Jim, Ann, Jamie, Sean and Isabella.
